Backyard Beautiful

For the past year our backyard has looked like a homeless camp. Tarps over building materials along with items pulled out of the house like sinks, etc. But we're now starting to clean it up and are exploring ideas to pretty it up.

K brought in loads and loads of dirt this week and leveled out most of the yard. It took a LOT of dirt! Luckily we were able to get very good compost from the local dump for $5.00 a yard.

Now I'm going through old and new photo's of yards I like. I'm thinking of doing something like my parents recently did... lots of plants, seating areas, and paths. But no lawn. I'd rather relax on a lounge chair than frolic on the lawn anyway.

Here are just a few of my many ideas.

We also plan to break through the back wall of our bedroom and add sort of an outdoor lounging room off of the bedroom. So I've been collecting ideas for that as well.

This next one is my favorite. I even have some old windows I've been saving to hang from chains in my outdoor room.

And of course I have some ideas for decorations too. I love these. Some are even for sale on Etsy!
